Private House Concerts:
Roger has a head full of ballads or bush poems ready to be performed at the drop of a hat. Rogers influences are many including Banjo Patterson, Robert Service, and Australian poet Milton Taylor. Roger is an award winning bush poet Balladeer winning the 1994 tittle of N Z's most humorous speaker for Toastmasters with is own poem “The Optimist”.
Roger performs regularly for functions and service groups meetings. He has performed his poems at many of the Folk Music Festivals throughout New Zealand and has supported and managed the Maniototo Bards Ballads and Bulldust Festival started by folk singer Phil Garland at Naseby.
Roger is a folk singer-songwriter and has been writing and performing his own material for over 30 years. Many of the songs are related to birthplace / home area of Central Otago. Songs steeped in the history of our countries early settlers and gold miners. With songs of the cattle musters off The Old Man Range behind Roxburgh in Central Otago, Roger can entertain with his ballads and love songs of our people and of our country.
He has performed his songs in the Australia, the Orkney Islands, Homer Alaska, Wellington and many South Island folk music festivals.
